57 Fifth Years, 10 staff and 2 parents pitched their tents on the Docks on a windy Friday evening recently.  The camp-out raised €3,650.85 for Medecins Sans Frontieres.  We are indebted to the Dublin Port Company for their incredible generosity and support and to Halfords for sponsoring tents.  An Afghan migrant spoke to the group and students benefitted from the opportunity to question her on the reality of living in Ireland.


The Loreto Abbey-Blackrock College Musical “Fake News” will take place in the Jubilee Hall at Blackrock College, from Tuesday 9th to Friday 12th May each evening at 7.30 p.m.    Tickets are on sale from our school office this week – Students €10 and Adults €15.

Rachel Bennett (2nd Year) will be presented with a Special Merit Category B Award in the Texaco Children’s Art Competition with an entry entitled “More is More and Less is a Bore” on Thursday May 25th.


The Junior A Basketball Team played in the All Ireland Semi Finals and subsequently in the Finals yesterday.  Unfortunately they lost 44-29 to Killorglin.  We applaud their dedication and commitment.


Our Athletics team returned home with 5 medals in the East Leinster Championships and our swimming team (Sorcha Gueret, Katie Baguley, Charlotte O’Riordan and Zofja Cautley) who came 2nd in the All Ireland Swimming Championships.

Eleven First Year students with 7 Science projects represented Loreto Abbey at the DCU Scifest Competition.  Kate Byrne was awarded a prize for her ability to answer questions on her project.  Well done to all involved and to Ms Lambe, their teacher.

Loreto Abbey will receive the Green Flag for Energy Conservation on May 24th in The Helix, DCU.  Well done to the Green Schools Committee guided by Ms Madden, on this achievement.

We wish our German Debating Team, Emily Lennon, Grace Cagney, Aoibhin Meghen and Ali McIntyre,  success in the forthcoming National German Debating Finals against CBC Cork on May 11th.

The Board of Management, Principal, staff and students express their deepest sympathy  to Ms Eve Kilgallon (teacher of French and Resource) and her family on the passing of her father, Mr. James Kilgallon.   May he rest in peace.

Sympathies are also expressed to the family of Hannah Molloy (2nd Year) on the sad passing of her mother, Mrs. Jennifer Molloy, this week.  May she rest in peace.
