World Book Week Fun!

World Book Week Fun!
English Classes
A myriad of World Book Week activities took place in English lessons all week- whether it was through book clubs, visiting our expanding Library, listening to authors' talks, participating in class quizzes or decorating classroom/classroom doors, students were heavily involved in preparing for World Book Day and many commented on the important role reading plays in their lives.
Our Terrific Tuesday Tablequiz
Our now-famous Tuesday Tablequiz took place in the Library again this year and was well attended with over 40 students present. Students deliberated and agonised over many questions and our eventual winners, Lily Burke, Nicola Beardmore, Grace O'Mahony were deserving of their fantastic prize. Congratulations to our Library Reps for organising and leading a wonderful event.
The Hunger Games Screening
Students attended a screening of 'The Hunger Games' at 1:10pm on Wednesday, 2nd February 20022. The screening was hosted in the Lecture Theatre and students enjoyed chocolate with their movie- a nice way to spend an afternoon!
World Book Day
Costume Competition
There was great excitement ahead of this year's Costume Competition which took place on World Book Day. Encouraged by the Fifth Year Spirit Prefect's promotional videos and emails, students and staff got into the spirit and there were plenty of Mad Hatters, Hermione Grangers and Crayons wandering the corridors on Thursday! Congratulations to all our participants, especially Mr. O'Boyle, who won the Best Teacher Costume, Amy Harmon, who won the Best Individual Costume and class 3D who won the Overall Class Costume for their fantastic collaboration inspired by the Wizard Of Oz.
To celebrate World Book Day, there was a Drop Everything and Read session for all classes between 11:15-11:30 to promote a love of reading in our school community.
