Gaelic Football

Gaelic Football is a new addition to the extra curricular sports on offer in Loreto Abbey Secondary School. Two Gaelic Football teams have represented the school during the 2022-2023 school year.

The Junior team, consisting of students from 3rd and 4th Year represented the school at the Loreto Schools TY Gaelic football blitz at the beginning of November. The girls played matches against Loreto Foxrock, Loreto Mullingar and Loreto Balbriggan.

The U14 team, consisting of students from 1st and 2nd Year represented the school in the post primary schools Leinster Championship. This year was the first time Loreto Abbey entered a team into a Leinster Championship. The team played Colaiste Íosagáin, Loreto Balbriggan and Mount Sackville in the group stages of the championship.

The team recorded a fantastic result against Mount Sackville on a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-1.

GAA training takes place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Cuala from 4pm to 5:15pm. The school are fortunate to be able to avail of Hyde Park, the home grounds of Cuala GAA club to host training and matches. The coaches Mr Monaghan, Mr Walsh and Ms Furlong are delighted to see the teams go from strength to strength.
