Welcome to the Creative Writing Club!
Our dynamic and enthusiastic Creative Writers meet each Thursday between 8.15-8.50 am in the Library or via Zoom during Remote Learning. New members are always welcome and may join via the Creative Writing Google Classroom link. New members are also welcome to email Ms. Kennedy if they would like any further information.
Our writers enjoy experimenting with many different forms of writing. Students have the opportunity to create their own fantasy-world novellas, attend Writing for Mindfulness workshops, enter writing competitions, and learn about script-writing amongst other fun activities.
Writing for Mindfulness: The Sunrise Sessions
Over lockdown, our students have been Writing for Mindfulness. Our students completed a workshop on reflective writing inspired by world-renowned poet Rupi Kaur. They have also been learning about Journaling and the importance of gratitude in writing and in life.
Terrific Tolkien

Inspired by the creative process of J.R.R Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings, our Creative Writers have also been busy planning, story-boarding, illustrating maps and creating character profiles for their Fantasy World novellas. There has been great excitement in the Library as students see their worlds come alive amidst the backdrop of our majestic sea views and powerful musical soundtracks. Our writers are now busy finishing their novellas. It is hoped their finish products will be bound and displayed in our library for other students to enjoy.
“Writing stories has always been my passion, and getting to create our own worlds this year has been a wonderful escape from the stresses of exams and Covid, and an incredible way to express our creativity. Creative Writing has been and always will be one of my favourite things about school!" -Klavdia Wilson
Writing Competitions
Our students have been fortunate to have had the opportunity enter competitions and be in with a chance to be published by outside publications such as The Irish Times and Fighting Words. For details on current competitions, students should visit the Creative Writing Google Classroom page.
